News got you down? The coffee at @yesplzcoffee.bsky.social is always a good pick me up. (The current decaf smells amazing…. )

ChatGPT 5 always seems to use “thinking” mode when I ask it stuff. Much more than I would have used the reasoning models for 4o / o3…

I’m not sure ChatGPT-5 is really an upgrade.

I just learned about the phrase “plot armor”. I’m old.

Ugh, openAI is doing cross-session information sharing. This is modestly annoying.

See if you can guess which LLM I’m talking about with each picture!

The problem with llm vibe coding is you get hidden bombs like this.
463. if (numNodes <= 0 || numNodes > 10000000) { // Sanity check 464 throw new Error(`Invalid number of nodes: ${numNodes}`); 465 }This easily works with 100m nodes.

Wow, I’m probably more aggressive in spending less time at airports than Nate Silver! (And I’ve never actually missed a flight because I’m late – cut it very close to missing bag check deadline one time we were checking bags) His approach is basically what I do. (Target 60 mins pre departure.)

Sometimes I try to think of what would it take me to get to yes on something like personalized AI-based pricing as in arstechnica.com/tech-poli… In this case, I’m fine if companies need to disclose lowest price in 6 mo

Thanks to @arstechnica for keeping this up (https://arstechnica.com/uncategorized/2002/02/2339-2/) — helped me find the original Google Programming Contest URL (https://web.archive.org/web/20020206161024/http://www.google.com/programming-contest/), not the weird mooglemb.com one.

Seriously, C++ is where Claude code is really hitting its stride for me! This is awesome. No performance wonkiness.

Claude code makes C++ so awesome. Seriously, if you’ve been a python fan, just dump it and go back to C++. Claude just handles all the BS and you don’t have to worry if you are on some ridiculous fast-path or have an optimized library or … anything. Just good algorithms and performance.
